About Low Emission Zones
What's happening in Edinburgh
The Council has set out proposals to introduce low emission zones (LEZs). The plans aim to improve air quality for people across Edinburgh by tackling pollution from traffic.
They are part of the Scottish national LEZs programme to reduce road transport’s contribution to poor air quality by introducing LEZs in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee.
Public consultation on Edinburgh’s outline approach to LEZ boundaries, the types of vehicles included and phasing arrangements took place over the summer. The findings were to the Council’s Transport and Environment Committee in October 2019.
