Information for people with disabilities
Blue badge holders will be able to access the area and events staff at the closure barriers will assist you to find a parking space.
Open Streets wants to ensure that taxi operators can meet the needs of customers during the closure period too. The team are fully committed to facilitating access for people with a disability and want to help identify options that will work safely on arrival.
The main public transport and vehicle access routes that cross over the area will all remain open and help ensure that residents, visitors and workers will not be restricted in their plans. These routes include George IV Bridge to the Mound, North and South Bridges; the Pleasance, St Mary’s Street and Jeffery Street.
Where possible, we would suggest to residents that they plan their car use to minimise the movement of vehicles in the car free streets. We realise that there may be circumstances where this may not be possible, and we can assist in guiding a car out of the area safely to the closure barriers.
